dcsTools 2010 Time Zone Updater
This free utility can be used to update the time zone tables for the following Microsoft operating systems:
- Windows 98, Windows SE
- Windows Me
- Windows NT 4
- Windows 2000
The dcsTools 2010 Time Zone Updater will fit on a 1.44MB floppy disk.
This utility has been updated to include August 2007 and December 2010 changes, which are minor. These changes have been added to the original 2007 change set for completeness. |
Using the 2010 Time Zone Updater Utility

Download the installer for 2010 Time Zone Updater ( 994 KB ).

Install the software - you must have Administrative privileges in order to install the software.

When installation of the program is complete, you will be offered the option to run the program immediately - we recommend you use this option. You must have Administrative privileges for the update to work.

To perform the update, click on the [Update TZ Settings] button. You will be prompted to make a backup of the current time zone settings – it is highly recommended that you do so.
- When the update is complete, the new time zone settings are displayed. You can compare the old and new by selecting the appropriate tabs on the main display.
Important Post-Use Information

When you have updated the PC’s time zone information, this updater is no longer needed.

In order to make this utility have as little impact as possible on your PC, un-install information is not placed on the system. This means you will need to manually delete the files if you wish to get rid of the updater.

If you accepted the default installation prompts, the updater files are located in the folder:
x:\dcsTools\\TZ_Updater
(where “x” is your Windows boot drive letter) -
You may wish to save the two time zone information backup files if you chose to back up the original time zone information on the PC. The files are named:
Backup_TimeZone_Info.reg
Backup_Selected_TZ_Info.reg
All other files can be removed.
Restoring Original Time Zone Settings
If you decide that you would like to restore the original time zone settings for some reason, refer to the Microsoft Knowledge Base article at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914387. This article describes the process for both manually updating the registry and restoring the original settings. Note the article is centered around Windows 2000 and the registry information files are different for Windows 9x and Windows NT 4.
