The report page setup dialog can be invoked from either the main display or from within the print preview window. The display consists of a number of tabbed areas that allow you to set the page type, orientation, margins, headers and footers, and scaling information. In the samples shown, areas of interest can be selected and pop-up information about the area will appear.

Page Information

The Page tab allows you to select a paper type, manually adjust the paper size using custom paper sizes and select the paper source location. You can also set the paper orientation (portrait or landscape) , dictate how a report that is more than one page wide will printed, and enable gray shading of the printed report.

Print Margins

The Margins tab provides the means to set he left, right, top and bottom page margins.  These settings essentially define the area of the page where data can be printed.  The header a footer margins are set above and below the top and bottom margins, respectively, and define the area where any text common to all printed pages will appear.  Typically, the header and footer margins should be set at or above your printer’s defined print area margins.  For a typical HP LaserJet printer, the header and footer margins should be set at 0.25" (1/4 inch).

If the content being printed is less than the available page width within the margins, you can force the printed material to be centered on the page horizontally. The same option applies for vertical centering.

Headers/Footers

The Header\Footer tab provides the means to place text that will appear on every page of the report. Both the header and footer are divided into three (3) sections, each of which can contain text of your choosing. Text can be static - that which you enter - or can include predefined functions that insert such things as date and time printed, page number, total number of pages, and user name.

Font attributes, including type, size, style and color, can be set independently for the header and footer areas. You can set a background fill color and/or texture the header and footer.

Each text area can be aligned vertically (centered is the default), and you can have the left and right text panels reversed for even-numbered pages.

Scaling

The Scaling tab allows you to resize the report content, either on a percentage of original size or by forcing the report to fit on a certain number of pages wide by pages tall. The default setting is "Adjust to:" 100 % Normal Size.

To fit all columns on a single page width, you should first set the Auto-Width property, located in the Print Design dialog on the Behaviors page. Once that setting is made, you can further adjust scaling properties to fit your needs.
